Pulmonary artery takes blood to lungs from heart and pulmonary vein takes blood from lungs to heart. Deoxygenated blood travels through the pulmonary artery to the lungs and then in to tiny vessels in the lungs where oxygen from the tiny sacs enters in the blood while carbon dioxide enters the tiny sacs from the blood. After oxygenation, blood travels to left atrium of heart through pulmonary veins.
