Need to FinD :-

  • The cation and anion in Calcium Sulphate .

We know that the Chemical Formula of Calcium Sulphate is \bf CaSO_4 . This salt is formed by reaction of acid and a base. Where the acid is , Calcium Hydroxide and Sulphuric Acid . The Reaction would be ,

\boxed{ \sf\red{ \underset{\blue{ Sulphuric\ acid}}{H_2SO_4}+\underset{\blue{ Calcium \ Hydroxide}}{Ca(OH)_2} \longrightarrow \underset{\blue{ Calcium\ Sulphate }}{CaSO_4}+\underset{\blue{ Water }}{H_2O}}}

When the ionic compound , Calcium Sulphate will disassociate it will give rise to ,

\to\red{ \sf CaSO_4 \longrightarrow Ca^{2+} + SO_4^{2-} }

Hence we see that here , the Cation is Ca²+ and the anion is \bf SO_4^{2-} .
