Filariasis is an infectious disease caused by nemathelminthes called Wuchereria bancrofti. The transmission of this disease is done through the bite of a female Culex mosquito. The mosquito is found in still water and lakes which are not much clean.

Some people may also develop hypersensitivity reactions to the parasites. The disease mostly affects the lower parts of the body.

The disease is spread from person to person and with mosquito bites. If a mosquito bites a person who has lymphatic filariasis, microscopic worms start to circulate in the blood of the person causing filaria to the person which leads to infection and itching in the body with rashes.
