Answer: 1 Chloroplasts contain chlorophyll, the green pigment responsible for photosynthesis and the green colors in plants. Chromoplasts contain carotenoid pigments and are responsible for many red, orange and yellow colors in plants. Lycopene is a red pigment found in the chromoplasts in tomatoes.

2 The chloroplast is a type of plastid, which produces green colored pigment called chlorophyll.

3 Plastids are the organelle which are found in plant cells only.

Different types of plastids are as:

Chloroplasts: They have chlorophyll as a pigment and carry out photosynthesis. They are green in color because of presence of chlorophyll.

Chromoplasts: They have different kinds of pigments which are responsible for color so they can be of any color like red, yellow orange depending upon the pigment they have. They are usually present in petals of flower in order to make flower attractive to pollinators.

Amyloplasts: They are starch storing plastids.

Leucoplasts: they store lipids, proteins and starch. They are colorless in appearance
