the egg apparatus consists of one egg cell and two synergids. all are haploid in nature.

egg cell- this fertilises with the male gamete and results in the formation of zygote.

synergids- these cells have filiform apparatus which gaurds the entry of the male gamete. the male gamete enters the female gametophyte through the degenerated synergid.
