The bark of the tree is made up of majority of chemicals called as tannins and lignin.

The other chemicals that are found on the bark of the tree include suberin, biopolymers and polysaccharides.

The tannin is majorly present in the tree bark and it protects the bark from degradation, suberin helps the tree to avoid bacterial infections, it serves as an antibacterial coating on the barks of the trees.
