1.Yeast can undergo both kinds of respiration including aerobic and anaerobic type.


Anaerobic respiration does not need oxygen in the process. It is also called as fermentation.


At first, glucose is converted to produce an intermediate called Pyruvate by the method called glycolysis. This yields 2 ATP molecules. Pyruvate is further converted to ethyl alcohol or ethanol and releasing carbon dioxide.


So the products of anaerobic respiration are carbon dioxide, ethanol and 2 ATP type of molecules. In the overall, Glucose breaks down as per reaction,


C6H12O6 → 2 C2H5OH + 2 CO. 2 ATP energy is released.
