In H2O, Hydrogen is bonded with Oxygen and thus it is classified as 'Covalent Hydride'. In Ionic Hydride, Hydrogen is bonded with active metal. In NaH, Hydrogen is bonded with Sodium, and thus it is classified as 'Ionic Hydride'. These are also known as Saline or Alkali metal hydride
