The ‘egg apparatus’ is a three-celled component within the seven-celled embryo sac of flowering plants.  

Explanation:

The ‘egg apparatus’ is composed of an ‘egg cell’ and two associated cells known as synergids. This apparatus is present at the base or end of the ‘embryo sac’. The pollen nucleus needs to travel to the egg cell for ‘fertilization’.  

The synergids probably help in the process of pollen nucleus travel to fuse with the egg cell for fertilization. Once fertilized, the synergids degenerate.
