The component of the blood that carries or transports oxygen is termed as the haemoglobin.

Blood contains many components such as the Red blood corpuscules, White blood corpuscules, blood platelets and the plasma. Amongst this the RBC or the red blood corpuscles contain the red pigment the haemoglobin that takes the oxygen to different ‘parts of the body’.

The RBCs do not contain a nuclei, to provide space for the oxygen to be transported.
