When a white light passes through aprism, it seprated or spilt into different component colour called VIBGYOR this phenomenon is known as Dispersion, which occurs due to light is made up of seven different colors or wavelengths and thus behave differently upon hitting the prism.

Hii There!!!
▶When a white light is passed through a triangular glass prism it splits into 7 different components of colours known as 'VIBGYOR'.
▶As the light is made up of seven different colours and when it hits the walls of glass prism it splits and this phenomenon is kniwn as : Dispersion of Light.
▶ Also the refractive index of each wavelength varies which splits the single white light and thus causes Dispersion of Light.
