 \bold{SULPHURIC \: ACID}

Sulphuric acid acts as both,

Drying agent which brings physical Change but don't effect substance chemically.

Dehydrating agent which brings chemical change will change in the substance physically.

Since, it has strong affinity for water, it removes water molecules from organic compounds. It does so in removing hydrogen and oxygen in 2:1 ratio.

 \bold{When \: ethanol \: is \: dehydrated \: with} \bold{sulphuric \: acid}

C_2H_5OH \xrightarrow{Conc. \: H_2SO_4}  C_2H_4 + H_2O

 \bold{OBSERVATION}

Ethanol gets converted into ethylene or ethene.
