Ethene is formed . When hydrogen is added to ethene in the presence of catalysts like nickel, palladium saturated hydrocarbon i.e ethane is formed. This process is called hydrogenation.

The compound formed is ETHENE. Sulphuric acid is a dehydrating agent, it dehydrates alchol and gives out ethene. If hydrogen is added to ethene the it will become C2H6 due to breaking of the bonds in the presence of nickel catalyst.
