name the compound formed when ethanol is heated in excess of conc. sulphuric acid at 443k. also write the chemical equation of reaction stating the role of conc. sulphuric acid in it . what would happen in if hydrogen is added to the product of this reaction in the presence of catalysts such as Palladium or Nickel

Here is your answer......


When ethanol is heated In 443 K under conc. Hot H2SO4 , it forms ethene and water.
C2H5OH ------->C2H4 + H2O.


When hydrogen is added to ethene under palladium or nickel , it gives ethanol .
C2H4 + H-------> C2H5.
Here the unsaturated hydrocarbon is transformed into saturated hydrocarbon.
