Explanation: In order to liquefy a gas, the molecules of gas has to come closer and this is possible when the kinetic energy of the molecules is decreased.

As kinetic energy of molecules is directly proportional to temperature, decreasing the temperature decreases the kinetic energy and thus molecules can be bought closer.

Moreover an increase in pressure at constant temperature decreases the volume of gas and thus the molecules come close to each other.
