a) A liquid part called Plasma

b) A solid part called Blood Corpuscles that contains:

ii) WBCs or White Blood Cells,

iii) Blood Platelets.

White Blood Corpuscles or WBCs are called the 'soldiers of the body'. This is because of the property of the WBC that enables them to provide immunity to the body. Also known as leucocytes, WBCs protect our bodies from attack by harmful micro organisms and various diseases.

The constituents of the blood contain the following parts:

(i) Red blood corpuscles

(ii) White blood corpuscles

(iii) Blood platelets

(iv) Blood plasma

Among this the White blood corpuscles are made up of neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils, lymphocytes, and monocytes. These cells are majorly involved in body’s defence mechanism. Each of them have a major role in strengthening the body’s defence against ‘pathogens’ and hence they are called as the soldiers of the body.
