Since, there was a socialist revolution taking place in the country and it was going under a turmoil with internal revolution,sothey could not take part in the World War anymore. Russia signed a peace treaty known as The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, on 3 March 1918 between the new Bolshevik government of Russia and the Central Powers ,German Empire, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire.
