➡ Flower is the reproductive structure of plants.
➡ It is meant for sexual reproduction.
Flower have four parts :-
1. Calyx
2. Corolla
3. Androecium
4. Gynoecium
➡ Calyx is the outermost whorl of the flower and sepals are its members.
➡ The Calyx may be gamosepalous (sepals united) or polysepalous (sepals free).
➡ Corolla have petals attached with it.
➡ Petals are the coloured substance which attract insects for pollination.
➡ Corolla may be gamopetalous (petals United) or polypetalous (petals free).
➡ Corolla may be tubular, funnel - shaped or wheel - Shaped.
➡ It is the male reproductive unit of flowers.
➡ Androecium is composed of stamens and each stamen represent the male reproductive organ consisting of a stalk or a filament and an anther.
➡ Each anther is generally bilobed and each lobe has two chambers called pollen sacs which produce pollen grains which help in reproduction.
➡ It is the female reproductive part of the flower and is made up of carpels.
➡ A carpel consists of stigma, style and ovary.
➡ Ovary is the enlarged basal part on which a elongated tube called style lies.
➡ Stigma is usually at the tip of the style and is the receptive surface of pollen grains.
