TYPES OF CHEMICAL REACTIONS
1.) Synthesis Reactions/Combination Reactions: When two or more substances combine chemically to form a single product, the reaction is known as Synthesis Reaction.
Example: 2H2 + O2 —> 2H2O
2.) Decomposition Reaction: When a bigger compound breaks into two or more simpler substances, the reaction is known as Decomposition Reaction.
Example: 2H2O —> 2H2 + O2
3.) Simple Displacement Reaction: When one element displaces another element from a compound and takes its place, the reaction is called a Displacement Reaction.
Example: Mg + 2HCl —> MgCl2 + H2
4.) Double Displacement Reaction: When two substances react by exchanging their radicals, the reaction is said to be Double Decomposition Reaction.
Example: NaOH + HCl —> NaCl + H2O
