1. On the View menu, click Normal, and then in the navigation pane, click the slide or slides that you want to change.
2. On the Design tab, in Customize, click Format Background.
3. Click Fill, and then click the Solid, Gradient, Picture or Texture, or Pattern option.

In case of  a presentation, it's very crucial to learn how to change appearance of the slides involved, in order to make changes to the PPT itself. There are multiple options and ways to do so, some of them are elaborated below.

• Background: Changing the background is one of the key elements.For that we need to to Format --> Background option.

• Effects: Effects are also very important. From Format --> Backgrounds, we can also use multiple options, like - Fill Effects, Texture, Pattern etc.

• Text: This is also controlled from Format option. From Format, we can go to multiple options like - Font, Font Style, Size etc.

   These are some examples, there are many other options as well through which we could easily control the what we want to present our PPT.
