Salivary glands - secrete saliva which helps in slight digestion of starch present in the food and also makes the food soft so that it can easily go down the oesophagus.

Gastric glands- secrete hydrochloric acid, mucus and pepsinogen. Hydrochloric acid makes the stomach medium acidic so that the pepsinogen can be converted into pepsin and thus digest the protein in food. HCl also kills the bacteria that may have entered along with food.Mucus protects the lining of the stomach from getting burned by HCl .

Pepsin helps in partial digestion of proteins.

Liver- secretes bile juice which helps in the emulsification of fats and converts the medium from acidic to basic.

Pancreas- secrete pancreatic juice which contains trypsin, lipase and amylase. Trypsin digests the proteins. Lipase digests the lipids. Amylase digests the starch( carbohydrates).

Intestinal glands- secrete succus entericus which helps in the complete digestion of starch proteins and fats.
