SRI LANK LIKE INDIA HAD A DIVERSE POPULATION. AND THEY ARE AS FOLLOWS:-

  • MAJOR SOCIAL GROUPS KNOW AS SINHALAS CONSTITUTES ABOUT 74%
  • AND TAMIL SPEAKERS ON TOTAL CONSTITUTED ABOUT 18% OF THE TOTAL POPULATION.HOWEVER THE TAMIL SPEAKERS WERE AGAIN DIVIDED INTO TWO SOCIAL GROUPS 'SRILANKAN TAMIL ' CONSTITUTING 13% AND REST PERCENTAGE WERE OF THE INDIAN TAMILS WHOSE FOREFATHERS CAME AS THE PLANTATION WORKERS.
