A double covalent bond consists of two pairs of shared electrons. It is formed by sharing of four electrons between two atoms, each atom contributing two electrons for sharing .It is actually a combination of two single bonds, it is represented by 2short lines( = ).eg. Oxygen molecule contains a double bond between two atoms O=O.
