Answer:

group 17 elements:

Fluorine

chlorine

bromine

iodine

astatine

tenessine

The fluorine atom has no d-orbitals in its valence shell and therefore, cannot expand its octet. Thus, fluorine is the most electronegative and exhibit –1 oxidation state only. Fluorine does not have d-orbital while other halogens have d-orbitals. Therefore fluorine always exhibit only one oxidation state of -1 and others in halogen family shows +1, +3, +5 and +7 oxidation states.

Iodine has tendency to form cation.
