rubber band snapping would release energy, then the rubber band holds potential energy. Another way to describe potential energy is energy that exists and could be released. For example, there is potential energy in car gasoline, because the gasoline can be processed and will move a vehicle.

ANSWER

1)When a rubber band is stretched then the energy we use to stretch it is stored in the rubber band in form of elastic potential energy.

2)As soon as we stretch a rubber band the adjacent chains are broken that results in warming of the rubber band and the heat energy is lost.Therefore if you put heat energy into a rubber band it will get shorter unlike most materials when they are heated they expands.

Extra information

1)Energy are of two types=>

a)Kinetic Energy
It is the energy that is present in any moving body or object.

Types of Kinetic Energy=>

i)radiant Kinetic Energy,

ii)thermal Kinetic energy,

iii)sound, electrical (light) and

iv)mechanical (motion).

b) Potential Energy
It is the energy present in the body due to shape, position.
There are 3 types of potential energy=>

i)Elastic Potential Energy,

ii)chemical Potential Energy, and

iii)gravitational Potential Energy
