When a ball is in the thrower's hand it possesses potential energy.

when the thrower throws the ball up the potential energy gets converted to kinetic energy.

when the ball reaches the max. height the K.E becomes zero while for that moment the potential energy becomes maximum.

as the ball begins to free fall the K.E increases and is max. jus before the ball hits the ground.

and finally when its in the ground the K.E becomes zero and it possess some P.E.
