The defect of vision in which the eye lens becomes milkey and cloudy is Cataract. it can be corrected by surgery.

For Correcting the distant vision powerof the lens isP=  -2D

we know that P=1/f  or f=1/P

f=1/-2     f=-0.5m      f=-50cm

so the focal length of the lens required to correct the distant vision is   f= -50cm

For correcting the near vision power of the lens is  P=+2D

f=1/P    f=1/+2       f=+0.5m      f=+50cm

So the focal length ofthe lens required to correct the near vision is f=+50cm
