Akbar was the Emperor of Mughal Sultanate. He propounded a syncretic religion named Din-e-Ilahi in 1582.

The motive behind this was to merge the elements of various religions in his empire. The followers of the Akbar mean the followers of Din-e-Ilahi, which were 19 in number.

Soon after the death of Akbar, they either returned to their old religion or died. One of his follower was Salim Chishti.
