Marco Polo was a Venetian explorer from Italy who has traveled to India in 1288 AD. He has written several biographies on the Rulers and also noted the cultural and social conditions prevailing in  India under the ruler of the Pandya kingdom.

Abu Abdullah Muhammad Ibn Battuta was a Moroccan Muslim scholar and traveler. he traveled to India from 1333-1343 AD.

After his third hajj to Mecca, Ibn Battuta determined to endeavor profession with the Muslim Sultan of Delhi, Muhammad bin Tughluq. He set off for the Seljuk established township of Anatolia with the aim of taking an overland route to India.
