Polythene terephthalate (PET) is used to replace glass. It is used for packaging sodas, water, juices, salad dressings, cooking oil, peanut butter etc. Even shampoo, liquid hand soap, mouthwash, pharmaceuticals are getting packed these days with this material. They are also used for ready-to-take home food containers that can be warmed in the oven or microwave.

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET or PETE), a solid, firm manufactured fiber and sap, and an individual from the polyester group of polymers. PET is spun into filaments for perpetual press textures, blow-shaped into expendable refreshment bottles, and expelled into photographic film and attractive recording tape.

PET is created by the polymerization of ethylene glycol and terephthalic corrosive. Ethylene glycol is a dull fluid acquired from ethylene, and terephthalic corrosive is a crystalline strong gotten from xylene. At the point when warmed together affected by substance impetuses, ethylene glycol and terephthalic corrosive create PET as a liquid, thick mass that can be spun straightforwardly into filaments or cemented for later preparing as a plastic.
