Pteridophytes are vascular plants which are also known as cryptogams (i.e reproduction is hidden).

It reproduces through dispersal of spores as they neither produce flowers nor seeds.  

They include ferns, horsetails etc.

They include four classes:-

1)  Psilopsida-  are the most primitive vascular plants in which roots are absent and rhizoids occur instead of roots. Leaves may be present or absent.
