there are 4 divisions of northern plain on the basis of relief features;

1. bhabar - it is located at the foothills of mountains . as the slope of mountain changes , the speed of water becomes slow.So it starts to deposit heavy sediments like gravel on the foothills . so water now flow through the sides and we can say that water disappears.
2. terai-here water reappears.
3. bhangar-it consists of old deposits of sediments
4. khadar- it consists of new deposits of sediments.
