C2H5OH commonly known as Ethanol has it's IUPAC name as Ethyl Alcohol. From the IUPAC name, we can see that there's a word “Alcohol” denoted when a functional group “-OH” is present. Hence, the functional group in Ethanol is “-OH” group or so to say it's the Alcohol group.
