Carbon dioxide is released when sodium hydrogen carbonate is made to react with dilute hydrochloric acid. To test it's presence we will pass the gas through lime water when it will be passed through, lime water will turn slight milky, this will show that CO2 is released.
i.e) NaHCO3+HCl -------> NaCl+H2O+ CO2
