name the gas evolved when ethanoic acid is added to sodium carbonate how would you prove the presence of this gas

Carbon Dioxide is evolved.
We can prove its existence by bubbling this gas through limewater. Limewater turns milky.
It also has no effect on acidified potassium dichromate paper.

when ethanoic acid is added to sodium carbonate, CO2 (carbon dioxide) gas is evolved along with formation of salt sodium ethanoate

Aim:-to show the presence of CO2 in reaction
test tube

Procedure :- 1)bring calcium hydroxide solution
(lime water)near the reaction test
tube
2) let the gas pass through this
solution
3)Observe

Observation :-1) If the lime water turns milky, it
shows that CO2 is evolved
during this reaction
2)If it does not turn milky then it
shows that CO2 is not evolved
during this reaction

Conclusion :- CO2 can be determined by
bringing calcium hydroxide
solution near reaction test tube

Alternative procedure:-

Aim:- To show the presence of CO2 in reaction
test tube

Procedure:- 1)Bring a lighted candle near the
reaction test tube
2)Let the evolved gas come in
contact with lighted candle
3)Observe

Observation :-1)If the lighted candle does not
get extinguished, it shows the
presence of CO2
2)If the lighted candle is
extinguished then CO2 is not
evolved during this reaction

Conclusion:- CO2 can be determined by
bringing lighted candle near it
