Ethanol + Na → C2H5ONa (Sodium Ethoxide ) + (Hydrogen gas )H2
C2H5OH (Ethanol) is heated in presence of conc. H₂SO₄ ,dehydration takes place, to give ethene and water.
Acid in this reaction acts as a dehydrating agent.
