Sludge is produced when treating wastewater on the sites. It is formed generally when the solid is removed from the waste-water.

The gas produced when sludge goes through bacterial decomposition is a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide gas, which is called biogas.

The decomposition process is also known as the anaerobic digestion, which allows stabilisation of organic waste and formation of biogas as a collateral product, which is utilised as a great source of energy as well.

The gas obtained by decomposing sludge is methane and carbon dioxide.Decomposition of sludge produces methane and carbon dioxide which is then stored and supplied as biogas for various household processes and other commercial process. The sludge is treated with bacteria to decompose the organic matter and produce carbon dioxide from it and the left over sludge is treated by nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria .And as a result of this methane is produced.
