The answer is helium or nitrogen.

The gas that can be used for storage of fresh sample of oil for a long time is helium or nitrogen.

Helium is a colorless non-toxic and inert noble gas. It has the lowest boiling point among all the elements in the periodic table.

Nitrogen is a gas that is used to produce most of the important industrial compounds. Found in Group 15 of the periodic table, this gas is the lightest in the group.

Solution :-

Nitrogen or helium can be used for storage of fresh sample of oil for long time.

Helium and Nitrogen both the gases provide inert atmosphere. Both Nitrogen and helium are non-reactive gases. These gases do not react with most of the elements including oxygen. When the stored oil is surrounded by these non-reactive gases, there is no oxygen (or air) to cause its oxidation and make it rancid. This way the sample of oil can be preserved for long time.
