Name the gas that liberates when an acid reacts with a metal

It depends on activity series and acid.

If Na/K/Mg/Al/ etc reacts with HCl then Hydrogen gas is liberated.

But when Cu/Ag/Au/Pt reacts with HCl then no reaction occurs as these are less active metals then hydrogen.

So first remember the activity series.
