Answer: The skeletal equation for the reaction of a metal with an acid is:

Metal + Acid-> Salt + H2

So, The gas liberated will be H2.

Explanation:

For e.g.- 2Na+2HCl-> 2NaCl+H2

The presence of this gas can be tested by bringing a matchstick near the test tube. The burning matchstick will extinguish with a pop sound.

hey frnd..ans is hydrogen gas

Let us suppose the metal is zinc(Zn) and acid is sulphuric acid(H2SO4)..

Zn + H2SO4 -> ZnSO4 + H2

The presence of this gas is tested with the help of splint (a equipment used in lab) and thus gas will catch fire..

Hope this may helps u..plz mark it brainliest
