Simpler animals, such as sea sponges, have one germ layer and lack true tissue organization. All the more compex animals ( from flat worms to human) are triploblastic with thre germ layer (a mesoderm as well as ectoderm and endoderm). Diploblastic animal have only two embryonic germ layers ( ectoderm and endoderm).
