The given structure is a reflex arc.

The general function of a reflex arc is to carry a message from the central nervous system( CNS) to the effector organ. It relays reflex actions.

The part labelled A is an afferent or sensory neuron.

The part labelled B is a efferent or motor neuron.

It represents the path followed by nerve impulses in case of reflex action. It is efficient in providing a quick response as it does not route through the brain, instead, takes the route of the spinal cord. This happens by directly activating spinal motor neurons.
