Gangotri Glacier  is the name of the glacier from which the River Ganga originates.

Gangotri Glacier  is one of the largest Himalayan glaciers. Its length is 30 km and width is 2 or 4 km. It is located in Uttarkash district, in the state of Uttrakhand. The terminus of the glacier resembles with cow's mouth, so it is called Gowmukh.
