Salivary gland is associated with digestion of starch in human digestive system this gland secretes a digestive enzyme called salivary amaylase which brakes down starch into maltose ( a form of sugar). ... Bile juice from liver makes the food alkaline in small intestine for pancreatic enzymes to act. Pancreatic juice also has amaylase to further breakdown sugar into glucose.
