cilia are the hair like structures found on the cell membrane of paramecium that are used to ingest food. The are thousands of cilia present on the the membrane and they assist in movement and trapping food that is directed onto the groove for consumption. Bacteria and algae are some of the foods that are ingested through the cilia covered groove
