If you are asking for the hardest “element” in the world then the answer to it would be the allotrope of carbon more commonly known as diamond whose hardness on the mohs scale is 10.

A compound Boron Nitride in its cubic form has a similar crystalline structure as diamond and many scientists claim that it can be even harder than diamond, but these claims are highly disputed.

Recently, researchers at North Carolina State University reported the existence of a new allotrope of carbon called Q-carbon and they claim its 60% harder than normal diamond although it remains to be experimentally proven
