Parturition is called as the child birth where it is the process of giving birth to the baby.
Mostly when asked about, physical activities are the first things which come into play such as uterine and abdominal contractions, dilation of cervix and passage of baby are collectively called as labour (excessively cited by everyones mother that she has undergone labour pain, of course a painful process, which is accompanied by, in simple terms, localised sensation of discomfort and agony as the vagina and cervix expand giving space to the baby to come out into our world)
If you want in detail then.....
It is a complex neuroendocrine mechanism. Signals originate from the body i.e. from fully formed foetus and placenta and cause mild uterine contractions called foetal ejection reflex. Also accompanied by rise in estrogen to progesterone ratio, increasing levels of oxytocin receptors in uterine muscles, increase in level of oxytocin secretion by both mother and foetus and stretching of uterine musculature (as written above).
INVOLVING THREE STAGES....
Dilation, Expulsion and After-Birth.
Dilation = uterine contractions begin from top. They occur every thirty minutes . Contraction begin!!! baby is forced to the cervix as the result of it culminated the rupturing of amniotic membrane (in amnion fluid). The amniotic fluid flows out (often seen in the movies).
Expulsion stage = Intensity increase (of uterine and abdominal contractions). The foetus passes through cervix and vagina head first (in abnormal cases the position is interfered with the placement of placenta involving it) in normal deliveries. It causes intense LABOUR PAIN. It takes 20-60 minutes. Umbilical cord is tied and cut (courtesy 3 idiots) off close to the navel region.
After-Birth = WELCOME TO OUR TORTUROUS WORLD OF ABOMINATION; HAHHAAHAHAH, just kidding. Within 10-45 minutes of the delivery of the baby, the placenta separates from uterus and us expelled out due to series of strong uterine contractions.
In neonate there is changes in the respiratory systems and circulatory systems. Gaseous hormone nitric oxide is released. Lungs expand and the infant starts breathing. Blood flow through Umbilical cord, foramen ovale and ductus arteriosus ceases. It starts passing through heart, aorta and pulmonary arteries.
When the infant is not saved we say one thing:
We couldn't save your child and nod in disbelief (not required but...fun fact you know?)
Note: I have watched the whole movie of 3 idiots, not an Indian, but still, since it was famous, just watched it. This question has been previously answered by me, for checking originality, just see the intent of humour induced in it.
