There are 2 hormones which are secreted by thyroid gland
a) T3 b) T4 or thyroxine

These hormones are essential for the proper functioning of thyroid gland and also helps in regulating metabolism of our body.

Glands which do not have ducts , and secrete its product directly into the blood.Endocrine glands secrets a chemical substance called - hormone.
A group of endocrine glands which produces various hormones are called an endocrine system.Endocrine system helps in control and coordination of our body.
Endocrine glands present in human body:-
<> Pineal gland
<> Hypothalmus gland
<> Pituitary gland
<> Thyroid gland
<> Parathyroid gland
<>Thymus
<>Pancreas
<>Adrenal gland
<> Testes[only in males]

Thyroid gland:-
Thyroid gland is attached to the wind pipe of the body.Thyroid gland makes thyroxin hormone(which contains iodine).
Function of thyroxin hormone is to control the rate of metabolism of carbohydrates , fats and proteins in the body.Iodine is necessary  for making of the thyroxin hormone by thyroid gland,therefore,a deficiency of iodine in the diet can cause a deficiency of thyroxine hormone in the body [ deficiency of iodine in the diet  can cause goitre ]
