Universal indicator is the name of the indicator which is used to measure pH values over the whole range.

Explanation:

The pH value of the solution is used to determine about whether the given solution is acidic or basic or neutral in nature. By knowing this character of the solution it will be easy for handling such solution.

In universal indicator, different colors are allotted with certain pH value and it is divided into three regions namely acidic (0-6), neutral (7) and basic (8-14).

The user has to test the solution with the pH paper and according to the color formed in the pH paper, it is correlated with the universal indicator and result is obtained.
