Ions with Valencies +2 are Mg+2(10 electrons) , Ca+2(18 electrons) . They are usually group 2 elements. Magnesium and calcium, among others elements, lose two electrons to attain stable electronic configuration and form their respective ions.

Usually 17 th group elements are elements which can accept one electron from other element to form a negative ion with valency -1. Chlorine (Cl) And Flourine (F) are good examples in this context.

Nitrogen can form N^-3 ion by accepting three electrons to complete it's octet. They are usually from Nitrogen family.
